Comic Con 2016: The Booth Goes to Mars!

The San Diego Comic-Con is one of the craziest jam-packed media frenzies of the year. We were very excited when National Geographic tapped us to help promote their upcoming Mars mini-series.

They offered us some creative direction and we came back with a shot to create the illusion that event attendees were standing on the surface of mars. We wanted to stand out. This activation had to be out of this world! Get it?

Here's how we did it. Attendees stood against a trifold green screen background with an overhead camera and could see the illusion on a live view screen. An on-site photographer helped guests understand the shot and play a bit. Final output was 4x6 branded prints and social media sharing for each guests “trip” to Mars.

Our photographers are great getting awesome shots out of a crowd, but we must give the Comic Con attendees credit. This crazy awesome spirited crowd made the work easy. Here's the proof.
